IFWorld — AI Copilot for Decision Exploration

Project Type

Project Type

Academy Project (Emerging

Tech Studio)

Year

2025

Overview

FWorld is an AI copilot built with Replit AI Agent for emotional reflection.
It explores the idea of “what if” the decisions we didn’t take and the paths we often wonder about.

The Solution

01 Start With a “What If…” Question

Think of something you've always been curious about, or a decision you've hesitated to make because you're unsure what the future holds. Start by asking, “What if…?”

02 Explore three potential life paths through thetimeline, revealing how each choice might unfold and feel over time.

The timeline presents three time horizons: 3 months (short-term), 1 year (mid-term), and 5 years (long-term), representing different perspectives people consider when making life decisions.

03 Recognize Your Emotions Before Seeking Answers

The Emotional Surface helps users identify the feelings behind their questions, whether fear, curiosity, or hope. By making these emotions visible, users can better distinguish emotional bias from their underlying needs, leading to more balanced and objective decisions.

04 Get Perspectives, Not Answers

It offers personalized guidance based on each user's situation, helping them reflect on their choices through emotional, practical, and relational perspectives. Rather than telling users what to do, it helps them discover what matters most to them.

05 Build Your Own Echo Journey

Echo Journey is a personal canvas where users can organize past questions and thoughts, like an external brain. Users can ask follow-up questions that build on previous ones, connecting related thoughts and providing more context for deeper, more personalized guidance.

By revisiting questions, reflecting on how their feelings and perspectives have changed, and updating life events, users can track their personal growth while helping it provide more relevant, evolving guidance.

Process

Why Build This When AI Chatbots Already Exist?

The first question that came to mind was why?

In an era where AI chatbots can answer almost anything, why create another AI-powered experience?

What could this offer that a simple conversation with AI couldn't?

I started by reflecting on my own motivations and talking to people around me. Three recurring ideas began to emerge.

Insight 01

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

AI Gives Answers, but Not Always Comfort.

AI can provide useful information, but often feels impersonal. When facing uncertainty or difficult decisions, people need more than answers — they also seek emotional support.

Insight 02

CURIOSITY & IMAGINATION

What If We Could Explore Our Other Lives?

The idea of exploring alternative futures, like a real-life version of The Sims, sparks curiosity. What would another version of ourselves be doing in a different life?

Insight 03

OVERRELIANCE ON AI

Answers Come Faster Than Understanding.

AI often provides answers before users have fully explored their questions. This instant gratification can discourage deeper reflection and reinforce dependence on AI.

Data Structure

To go beyond a simple AI conversation, I structured the platform to turn users' questions into multiple possible futures. By combining intent analysis, LLM reasoning, and scenario generation, the system supports both logical exploration and emotional reflection.

My Takeaways

Through building an AI-powered interactive platform and researching and testing different LLMs, I experienced firsthand how AI can dramatically improve efficiency and expand what's possible in interaction design. Comparing different models helped me understand how their strengths, limitations, and response styles influence both technical performance and user experience. This project also pushed me to explore AI beyond productivity, particularly its potential to support emotional reflection and personal decision-making. The more I explored AI's capabilities, the more I realized that the value of interaction design lies not only in what technology can achieve, but also in understanding how and why people interact with it.
